Department of Biochemistry and Molecular BiologyIn addition to helping faculty and students with finding sources of funding, development of research proposals and administrative management of grants, I perform diverse managerial, technical and scientific functions in Dr. Vinata Lokeswar's Laboratory at AU's Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department.Research: participation in ongoing federal funding projects for research in urological cancer investigating cellular mechanisms of bladder cancer progression, mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapies in prostate cancer cells and studies on prevention and control of metastatic renal cell carcinoma. The research involves western Blot analysis, DNA and RNA isolation, and cloning, tissue culture of tumor cell lines and related techniques (Matrigel Invasion assay, ELISA, tumor induction in athymic mouse models, treatment and evaluation, etc.). Evaluation of anti-tumor effects of HA-related drugs/compounds in live models both xenograft and transgenic mice.
