Engineering is Elementary
-
Aug 2014 - Present
The Next Generation of Science Standards calls for the application facet of science. The Engineering is Elementary curriculum heavily aids in the Cross-Cutting Concepts dimension of these standards and it defies misconceptions about the discipline of engineering as an innate set of skills that children, with teacher facilitation, can craft to perfection over time while they learn to persevere through a challenging task and build their confidence about problem solving in general. It incorporates literacy, innovation, global awareness science and mathematics. Show less

Jun 2013 - Present
K-2 Students are learning to read. 3-5 Students are reading to learn. Language development in young children is the indicator for successful literacy experiences beyond childhood. Unfortunately, some students have gaps in their language learning milestones, let alone gaps in grade level reading. To this end, I provide the following interventions: -Edmark - a whole language program made for students with autism, -Guided Reading/Writing in English and Spanish for our Sequential and Simultaneous Bilinguals. -Wilson/FUNDations- a VATK program for students with severe reading/writing disabilities such as dyslexia and dysgraphia.
