I completed a 4-week internship at CMC Connect within McCann Health Medical Communications. The entry-level programme, FuEL, is a coordinated training and developing programme for Associate Medical Writers, Associate Regulatory Writers, Associate Medical Editors and Associate Account Executives. FuEL combines dedicated training, consistent mentoring and feedback, and on-the-job experience and is designed as an accelerated development programme. The internship provided me with an insight into the Medical Communications industry where I developed essential skills through completing tasks such as: a 4-week social media project plan; editing a manuscript, abstract and poster; reviewing publications; client services (financial management, travel organisation, and admin tasks); taking part in meetings and project planning; and developing materials for medical writers. I also completed a variety of training tasks such as GDPR, the pharmaceutical industry, and other tasks relating to the different job roles within the agency.

Working in a fast, high-quality boutique cocktail bar in Chester city centre, while working long shifts (3pm-4am) alongside a close team to an extremely high standard. Developed essential hospitality skills by greeting customers, taking and serving orders, to ensure customers were accommodated while tending to large table area (of 17 tables), multiple large private groups of up to 30, and managing bills up to £300, bookings and cleaning. I spent time gaining experience in business departments such as HR, Telesales, Distribution & Export, Genetics, Marketing, Finance, IT and Research. I was able to learn and develop vital professional skills such as communication, team work, leadership and mentoring. I was also able to spend valuable time in scientific departments such as research labs, testing rooms and with animals in the stud - allowing me to be involved in professional laboratory research. I also spent a day with an artificial insemination technician learning important communication and safety skills and the science behind selective breeding.
