The $110M Sydney Opera House VAPS project involved the development of an underground vehicle access way to the site, which eliminates vehicles from pedestrian areas on the forecourt and boardwalk. Works included, but were not limited to tunnelling, piling, reinforced concrete, temporary works, monitoring works and infrastructure works. The Kings Cross project involved the remediation and enabling works for the Kings Cross Zone B development site. Historically the site housed a number of gas holders which dated back to the 1800’s. Works included the construction of piled retaining structures with reinforced concrete components, infrastructure works, road construction, extensive earthworks, remediation within a gas works site, and large scale temporary works. My role was as section engineer within the remediation team. I worked closely with the environmental contractor, using innovative processes to improve the environmental impact and safety of the remediation process.My responsibilities and achievements included;• Positive negotiations with prospective subcontractors and major suppliers• Maintenance of the four weekly programme• Delivery of the quarterly forecasts• Succeeded in the management, planning and coordination of the site remediation team• Fulfilled strict site specification requirements• Ensured Risk Assessment and Method Statements were in place prior to work commencing• Completed programme resourcing• Delivered comprehensive hand-over documents within time scale• Liaised successfully with design partners and utility contractors• Completed accurate material take off’s and requisitions.Further to my role as section engineer I was a member of the Special Projects Beyond Zero leadership team. This was a department team within BAM Nuttall which met monthly to discuss health, safety and environment. I took the opportunity to present 4 hour workshops which included a broad spectrum of personnel, from members of the design team and senior engineers to site foreman and ground workers. The Kings Cross SEFI project consisted of the relocation and installation of vital utilities, drainage and 2m diameter attenuation system, earthworks, retaining structures and highway construction. My role was as site engineer within the highways team. During my time within this project I had a number of responsibilities including;• Precise setting out and surveying using a total station and GPS• The delivery of Risk Assessment, Method Statements and clear briefings• Accurate stockpile management and volume calculation• The generation of clear and concise Inspection Test Plan’s• Successfully liaised with sub-contractors• The management of material requisition• The production of accurate as-built drawings, on time. The London Olympics Park is an area of land which was demolished, remediated and developed to facilitate the construction of the London 2012 Olympic Park. I was involved in the Enabling Works contract which consisted of site investigation works, demolition, earthworks, utility installation and road construction.1st Sept 09 – 17th Sept 10Site EngineerAfter graduation I was primarily involved in the delivery of two Construction Zones within the London 2012 development site. I supervised the demolition, remediation, earthworks, stockpile management, service diversion and the planning of retaining wall structures. Project responsibilities included;• Effective daily communications between site supervisors and on-site chemists/geotechnical engineers to ensure site compliance• Engineering supervision in the installation of utilities• The successful planning of a retaining wall which required the analysis of materials, temporary works and reviewing sub-contractors quotations.2nd July 07 – 13th Aug 08 Trainee Engineer During my time as a trainee engineer I was involved in a broad spectrum of engineering, spending time in demolition, earthworks and remediation, utilities, and the construction of the Southern Security Plaza at the Olympic Park. I gained experience in the tendering stage and was heavily involved in weekly client meetings and the completion of the quarterly forecast. Show less
