      • Aug 2021 - Dec 2021

Due to increasing demand for Psychological services within the NHS, I am employed across two teams; Merton Assessment Team and Merton Uplift (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) to triage patients awaiting therapy and contain any psychological crisis that may be apparent. I also analyse referrals sent from primary and secondary care providers and assess and triage accordingly. These referrals can arrive in high-volumes of hundreds per week and I aim to complete around 50 a day, which means my time-management and decision-making skills have developed significantly.I also assist the team by completing psychological assessments, referrals, , care plans and subsequent discharges back to the GP. • Care Coordinator - East Wandsworth Community Mental Health Team
      • Mar 2021 - Aug 2021

In this role I held a caseload of over 35+ patients with severe and enduring mental illness. For each patient I would create a person-centred care plan, behavioural contract and adhere to strict boundaries to maintain a trusting but professional rapport with the patient. Alongside Care-coordinating, I ran my own Cardio-Metabolic Clinic which provided full health checks for our 500+ team caseload. I trained as a phlebotomist and monitored Cholesterol, BP, SATs, Covid-19 symptomology and provided PCR testing. I also coached each patient on good nutrition, physical activity and overall wellbeing. I was responsible for all administration support which included screening referrals, invitations, procurement and data analysis and input. I raised the KPI's from around 65% to 100% during my employment with EWCMHT. In addition, myself and a Psychiatrist colleague proposed a QI initiative to our NHS trust which would involve setting up a Patient peer support group for Working Professionals through a social networking app. I formulated this idea after speaking to two patients within the same day whom both fell into this category, but shared the fear of being stigmatised by their friends and colleagues and expressed a desire to have a like-minded social network. • Covid-19 Emergency Response
      • Mar 2020 - Mar 2021

In March 2020 I was deployed to a newly developed service which would provide additional support to A&E departments during the Covid-19 pandemic. This service was established as high levels of Psychiatric patients were predicted to attend A&E which would of increased the spread of Covid-19. I partnered with a fellow colleague and we created a triage tool based of a similar model used by London Ambulance Service to redirect 999 and 111 queries away from A&E. With minimal guidance from senior colleagues and the added pressure of call-handling hundreds of crisis calls day and night, we completed this task in little short of three days and after senior approval, this tool was approved and implemented straight away. • Intermediate Mental Health Support Worker - Sutton Home Treatment Team
      • Apr 2018 - Mar 2020

Sutton Home Treatment Team offers an alternative to admission and facilitates early discharge and crisis intervention. This role opened my eyes to a multicultural and diverse socio-economic demographic of service users whom required a flexible and culturally informed approach towards their care. I worked with Adults between the ages of 18-75 and their families and learnt to adapt my approach and communication style towards each individual. My role required the assessment of mental state on various service users per shift. The analysis and recommendation would then be delivered to the Multidisciplinary team upon documenting each assessment. Medication monitoring was a key element of the role, it required a good understanding of psychiatry alongside very strong communication skills, persuasiveness, negotiation and rapport building was essential in order to build trust with the patient in their home environment. • Sep 2014 - Apr 2018

During my studies at Sheffield University, I held a 30 hour per week permanent post within Community services for service users with dual diagnosis Learning disabilities and Mental Health for 11 months, before obtaining a flexible working contract. During my time with SHSC, I worked in various community and inpatient settings including; Inpatient Acute Psychiatric wards, Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) for Mental health and Learning disabilities, Older Adults, an Alcohol Detox unit and Low and High Secure Forensic hospitals. (Rampton High Secure hospital within Nottinghamshire NHS FT). Due to the competitive nature of pursuing a career within Psychology, I threw myself into work and soaked up as much knowledge as I could. This experience was vital as it gave me real-world insight into the application of Clinical psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Adult Nursing and Psychiatry, alongside other multidisciplinary areas such as Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Police, Prisons, Psychotherapy and Nutrition. During this time I developed exponentially as an individual both professionally and personally. I gained plenty of experience in a relatively short period of time which gave me an advantage upon graduation alongside a strong network and references. Due to the nature of the work, I also gained perspective and matured, I gained confidence and found that I excel under pressure. I thrived off new challenges and rarely felt phased. Not only did I build resilience, I became a more conscientious and compassionate person overall. From 2017 I was invited to sit on the interview panel for flexible staffing, recruiting Doctors, Nurses and Support Workers. This opportunity was the perfect opportunity to refine my own interview technique and identify technical ability in others, whilst evaluating values that ensure the right fit for the NHS. Show less
