    • Guest Lecturer
      • Oct 2015 - Oct 2015

I was invited to present a lecture at the 'University of Auckland, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, School of Population Health' about ‘The multiplicity of roles of the Internal Evaluator and the contextual realities of working in the 'Not-for-Profit sector’. Testimonial from Dr. Rachel Simon-Kumar Senior Lecturer, School of Population Health, The University of Auckland:"I had invited Lucinda to be a guest lecturer for my post-graduate class on evaluation. The lecture was excellent. Lucinda covered exactly the areas I was hoping she would but with the added prescience of experience. She pitched the lecture perfectly infusing story-telling and humour with facts and conceptual depth. She was well prepared with handouts and questions/exercises for the students. In fact, the handouts were so useful that students are using it as a sample for their upcoming assignment. And no, not one of the students dropped off to sleep". Show less

Project based evaluation and research work, for example: In collaboration with the Centre for Social Impact I co-presented a workshop at Philanthropy New Zealand (2015) regarding ‘Venture Philanthropy’ As a member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association I provided a peer review for ‘Evaluation Matters - He Take Tō Te Aromatawai’ an international, inter-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journal Resilience Research: Gateway, a NGO, expressed interest in the development of a new programme to cater for the local immigrant community. I conducted field research to inform intervention strategies and a pilot programme. This included: •Observing programmes and interviewing programme leaders in Cabramatta, Australia •Reporting the findings and recommendations to management •Advising Gateway on the incorporation of relevant racism and discrimination policies •Implementing the strategies identified in the field research by recruiting, orientating and supervising interns/ volunteers to facilitate a pilot programme •Raising awareness of the value of multiculturalism to stakeholders by writing articles in the magazine and reporting the progress of interventions through newsletters Evaluation Research: As a member of an evaluation team, I consulted with Te Whakaruruhau Māori Women's Refuge. A literature review in relation to Māori women and domestic violence in New Zealand was conducted which informed the research approach. The data collection strategy included the facilitation of a focus group, online survey and interviews with key informants from Government agencies.
