I worked this position at a residential for adolescents undergoing mental health treatment. The children ranged ages 11 to 17 and I worked with up to 16 kids at once supervising and monitoring their behavior while in the program. I was trained in CPR and CPI for through the company and practiced therapeutic listening skills along with intervention and behavior management with them. A lot of my day involved being with them from the moment the woke up until bed, helping them adhere to the schedule, facilitating activities, and assisting them if needed. I often had to maintain a calm manner in intense situations and use quick thinking when the children were emotionally distressed. I feel this position strengthened my observation and problem solving skills with people along with helping me realize my strength in being able to adapt to new things like working with children with often extreme behavior and moods. This further honed in my ability to show empathy and guidance to the children to help them improve their own rationalizing and coping skills while in treatment. Show less

I was hired as a "barista and sandwich maker" learning how to make all the menu items, put in orders, and keep store clean. In less than a year I promoted to be a shift lead and take a managerial role. I was expected to ensure the orders were made to standard but served quickly without lacking in quality. This included training coworkers on the most effective ways to make drinks and food and maintain a clean workspace. I was also entrusted to handle the transaction drawers and make sure any cash handling from my shift was counted correctly. I also would have to problem solve and handle any customer questions and challenges that could arise. These duties required an attentive eye and leadership skills for my team as I still performed my barista and sandwich making duties but now multitasked that with maintaining order in the store. I was hired as a "coldline worker" which entailed taking walk in and drive thru orders, making specialty custard items on the menu, and maintaining cleanliness in the store. I was promoted to a Training positions after a year to to teach new hired cold line workers how to effectively perform these task and lear the menu. This position started my experience with customer service and food handling. I learned how to interact with customers, tend to their needs, and serve quality food and desserts to them within a timely manner. Show less
