Akin to the home-schooled hackers of the 90s and the outspoken biomedical gerontologist Dr. Aubrey De Grey, much of my biotechnology education and experience has been completed through self-education. I have studied by/through: • Yale’s Frontiers of Biomedical Engineering, with Mark Saltzman on the Yale Course YouTube channel. • MIT’s The Science and Business of Biotechnology on the edX.org online education platform. • Reading Dr. David Sinclair’s book “Lifespan: Why We Age - and Why We Don't Have To,” • Reading Jamie Metzl’s Book “Hacking Darwin: Genetic Engineering and the Future of Humanity,” • Watching almost every TED Talk, online presentation and panel discussion on Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, and Longevity and Regenerative Medicine. I plan on: • Teaching secondary school biology within the next 1-2 years. • Completing a Masters in Biotechnology with a concentration in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine within the next 1-2 years through John Hopkins University. • Lecturing various freshmen or sophomore biology, biotechnology, genetics or biochemistry courses at the post-secondary level. I am extremely intrigued and interested in: • Learning how to use advanced technologies, like: molecular computer modelling; chemical enzymes to isolate, analyze and synthesize proteins, enzymes, DNA and other molecules; and researching effects of enzymes and proteins on cellular structures and processes. • Preparing technical, research and feasibility papers based on applied research issues in stem cells, regenerative medicine, recombinant DNA, or monoclonal antibodies. • Presenting institutional findings to fellow scientists, staff and stakeholders. • Assisting in grant proposal applications. • Developing, analyzing and testing new chemical compounds.
