-
Jan 2009 - Jul 2013
During this time I pursued a variety of contracts and volunteer positions as a means to broaden my overall experience. I feel I was quite successful in doing so, as I can now claim experience in administration, client relations, communications, human resource management, international relations, labour relations, event/project management, training, and volunteer coordination. As a result, I am now particularly interested in gaining further experience with charitable organizations, and any organizations associated with international development.

Assistant Language Teacher
-
Aug 2005 - Aug 2008
The JET Programme encourages its participants to not only become engaging teachers of English, but to become engaged in the local community as well, and I did so at every opportunity. Over three years, I taught thousands of students at a variety of skill levels, using innovative lesson plans that I designed in cooperation with Japanese teachers. In my spare time, I also helped to organize a martial arts class for local teachers, an English Summer Camp, a Charity Bike Ride, and participated in numerous other community events. The experience allowed a much broader understanding of international development, helped in networking with professionals around the world, and fostered an even deeper appreciation of Japanese culture.
