As part of a small boutique team specialising in motor vehicle accidents and insurance litigation, I worked on claims for debt recovery, acting for public transit authorities. Responsibilities included: - Drafting and filing Letters of Demand, Statements of Claim and Cross-Claim, Affidavits, Defences, Examination Notices and Notices of Motion on the online registry; - Reviewing CCTV, gathering evidence and making offers and counter-offers; - Answering telephone enquiries, calling and liaising with clients, counsel and opposing solicitors over the telephone and by email; - Managing joint calendars and setting reminders and notes for upcoming dates and hearings; - Exposure and proficiency with legal software: LEAP and Smoke Ball, including opening and closing matters, archiving files, making memos, recording time and disbursements and drafting tax invoices.
