I designed a research project to investigate how curriculum standardization affects student-teacher relationships, with eyes on legitimating and financing Popular Education while supporting the schools' socially transformative vision. My design process included a comprehensive literature and policy review, training in methods and methodology, and securing grants for field work. I began field work and data collection in July '23, and will present my research in September '24. I worked with a UCSB and Chilean research team to investigate how farmers in Chile are confronting water scarcity, climate change, and resource exploitation in the context of Chile's ongoing constitutional reform. I carried out 3 weeks of field work in Santiago de Chile from June to July 2023, which included conducting interviews in Spanish, participating in community resource monitoring, and presenting my findings at the International Student Conference on Environmental Challenges in Chile.
