Experience

    • Executive Producer
      • Jul 2019 - Present

Currently, executive producing the video. Behind the camera, I am interviewing all on-screen participants. Further roles will include, writing the narration, researching (throughout) and editing the final film. Remedi Restorative Services and Got Your Back approached me to produce a Hate Crime Awareness video, to be used as a free learning resource for all schools in Cheshire to help educate and to raise awareness. The video will launch in Hate Crime Week 2019. This has been commissioned by the Cheshire PCC, in partnership with Remedi Restorative Services and Got Your Back. For my executive producing role, I have outlined the ongoing working schedule, to make sure this journey runs smoothly, ensuring that we are all in a healthy working environment that meets the needs of a short-term, collaborative project. Collected and handled expenses receipts each month, as well as ensuring participants sign consent forms and they are given to the relevant people. Single-handedly created all filming schedules, sourced locations and participants through extensive research. I am constantly networking and building relationships with various charities and participants, through email liaising, strategic meetings and charity events. I have been an excellent negotiator, selling the brand to figureheads, and I have a keen eye in production and marketing, particularly on social media, which has proved useful when promoting screen bites on Twitter/Instagram or asking for participants/volunteers. Adhering to the clients wishes, I have created a set of specific questions, tailored to each individual, to interview on-camera participants on the issue of hate crime. I have made sure I handle potentially triggering situations with delicate sensitivity, by bringing my charismatic, trusting personality to the table. I have learnt a lot on this job and continuing to learn as I go along. Working to a tight, cutthroat schedule is a particular high point of mine. Show less

    • The Murder Mile / Promotional book video
      • Apr 2019 - May 2019

I was approached by Lesley McEvoy, crime author, to produce a promotional video to publicise her debut novel, The Murder Mile, due to be released late April 19. For this project, I was asked to bring my scriptwriting, producing and editing skills to the team and therefore, worked with a freelance cinematographer/director. After an initial meeting with client, Lesley, to discuss her video, I first adapted the (very little) text, she could release to me, from novel to screen, using specific tag lines plucked from her writing. I used the client's novel blurb and synopsis and crafted a dark and atmospheric storyline that interweaved subtle hints of the novel's plot and characters, but nothing to spoil the overall story. Filming completed, I took the footage and edited together the final product with Final Cut Pro - the software I use for all projects. Similarly to my script, I wanted to create something dark and bleak, keeping in line with the novel's Yorkshire setting - dark skies, rolling greenery, grumbly weather - but also the police procedural theme; achieved through props, such as 'Police Line Do Not Cross'. I used gloomy, horror-esque sound and music to intensify the fear within the audience, which matched the gritty cinematography. The on-screen text was a hook for social media marketing - the idea behind this was that nobody, in a public space, (bus, train, etc) would want to play the sound, but this way, could still grasp the story through text on screen. This project strengthened my scriptwriting capabilities, but kept me within the boundaries of the client's wishes - this was a particularly high point and great learning exercise, as I'm used to only writing my own stories. Through this, I have discovered a knack and great skill in adapting novel to screen. I applied my strong skills in timekeeping, reliability, working as an individual and as part of a team, bringing innovative and creative ideas to the game and keeping motivated on set. Show less
