MSc Thesis at the Center for Healthy Aging (CEHA) in the Scheibye-Knudsen Group of Prof. Morten Scheibye-Knudsen and supervised by Prof. Collin Ewald (ETH Zurich)———Thesis title: "NAD metabolism of the ageing lung".In the context of an ongoing clinical trial (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04990869), I investigated the uptake of the NAD-precursor nicotinamide riboside (NR) in lung fibroblasts MRC-5 and lung epithelial cells BEAS-2B and its conversion to NAD. The effects of NR on the cell viability after menadione-, UV- and IR-induced oxidative stress were also studied. Furthermore, I investigated the effects of NR, metformin, rapamycin, quercetin and dasatinib on the lifespan and motor function in w1118 Drosophila Melanogaster.
