My time spent teaching English in Spain was very rewarding for several reasons. The first reason being, the tangible impact I was having on the students, the level of work I put in was reflected in the students' development. Additionally, immersing myself in to a challenging new culture combined with having to learn a new language meant I was constantly absorbing as much as I could in the 8 months I stayed there. As part of my university course, I worked at Watford Football Club. The year I spent at the Premier League club proved to be one of the most valuable parts of my degree course. My role was very broad at the club, working with the 1st team and the academy, assisting the heads of Sport Science while liaising with both the Coaches and the Physiotherapists. The main goal of the Sport Science department was to ensure players could perform optimally throughout the season which was achieved through thorough monitoring and tailored planning for each athlete.During my time there I was highly praised by my supervisors for my eagerness to increase my responsibilities when the opportunities presented themselves. Additionally, I found the more I could get the athletes to buy in to what the Sport Science department were providing, the greater the results. I was awarded an A grade at the end of that year which was based on an assessment of my work and a presentation of a project undertaken during the year.
