I have had the pleasure of working with Luc for a period of around four years when he acted as shareholder of USG representing Arlanxeo. Luc has a very sharp mind and combines this with broad business and finance acumen. He has the gift to take and develop a strategic helicopter view but also the patience to dive into details when this is required. He is respectful, integer, stays calm under pressure, is creative and will try to analyse problems and develop and articulate solutions. His opinions matter and are trusted and valued by his executive peers. I have no hesitation whatsoever to recommend Luc for any executive business challenge presented to him.

Nico De Meyer

I had the pleasure to work with Luc reporting to him at Lanxess. Luc is a knowledgeable professional and acts with a problem-solving attitude. He has a creative, positive outlook and he is good at organizing and bringing people together. Some of his leadership skills that I appreciate are analytical, communication and troubleshooting abilities.

    • VP Global Integrated Business Planning - Global Commercial organization - Arlanxeo Group
      • Sep 2020 - Jul 2022

ARLANXEO has restructured in 2020 its organization worldwide from a BU based into a full Functional global organization. In that context, within the global Commercial Organization and in a cross-functional approach by essence, I have initiated with my team the transition from different Integrated Business Panning (IBP) BU processes into one harmonized single IBP process for the group with the proper supporting organization, with highest priority for business continuity, inventory / working capital control for cash preservation, in the context of Covid 19 crisis, worldwide supply chains and transport disruptions, high fluctuation of demand with highs and lows, production disruptions due to technical issues and shortages in raw materials . In this very disruptive environment, with planning and production agility combining plant shutdowns and regional rebalancing, we managed to optimize inventory level significantly and reduced by close to -10 DSI days sustainably on years 2020 – 2021. On the Excellence part, the Interim harmonized IBP Process has become effective and focus then put on the short-term (Integrated Tactical Planning) which remained to be improved, with the support of a well-known consultant. • Managing Director ARLANXEO Netherlands
      • Oct 2017 - Jul 2022

ARLANXEO Netherlands is among the largest entities of the group in term of sales and has grown into a global platform for several functions, including Commercial, Innovation. The company is also hosting a world scale EPDM elastomer plant, reference for the group. In 2021, a very significant principal business has been transferred from Switzerland following a restructuring in this country. ARLANXEO Netherlands is also a shareholder of the key utility, infrastructures, and manufacturing services providers (USG and SITECH) on the Chemelot (NL Limburg) chemical park. As managing director, I have supervised and optimized the financial development of the company by putting proper actions in place (savings, working capital) or adjusting business models when needed, ensured proper coordination between global functions within local context, developed relevant communication, pushed for safety, ensured compliance, cared for people, and maintained proper social dialogue. I have successfully led the implementation of several restructuring projects for the NL entity: business transfer from Switzerland, organization restructuring in 2020 and in 2018 in good cooperation with the works council. As (supervisory) board member of the site utility and infrastructures companies, I have brought my contribution to significant re-financing or strategic restructuring projects in the frame of a chemical park embarking into a future oriented sustainability journey. • Managing director and country representative Belgium
      • Apr 2010 - Sep 2017

LANXESS NV in the Antwerp Chemical cluster has been one of the biggest entity of the LANXESS Group, outside Germany (3 world scale plants on both banks of river Scheldt, 900 people, dedicated primarily to production of plastic intermediates and rubber additives). As managing director, I have been responsible for the overall supervision of the company. This covered in particular financial, compliance and legal aspects, HSEQ framework, including emissions monitoring, ETS system, ISO and safety improvements, proper social dialogue, transparent communication internal and external. Maintaining a balanced challenging coordination with and between business units in the company was paramount. Modifying a key business model had to be triggered, where structural rebalancing of functions with Germany was implemented. I have been directly in charge of the site operations on the left bank with P&L responsibility. This meant, together with my technical team, optimization of operating conditions in the delivery of utilities to generate savings, clarify relationship with existing tenants and also commercial development of the site towards external parties. We set up an efficient marketing and promotion network with Port of Antwerp to generate prospects. One important tenant joined in 2017 with then further debottlenecking. I have also pushed for the left bank steam network project ECLUSE, together with industrial neighboring partners, which turned to be a success. I had also the opportunity to run several improvements projects within support functions (IT, Accounting, HSEQ, HR) and to facilitate restructuring projects within the operations. An important part was also representing the interests of the company externally, as board member of the chemical association essenscia, of the chamber of commerce VOKA, within the Chemical cell of Port of Antwerp. This gave me the opportunity to develop a large network of colleagues and friends in the area. Show less

    • Chief Financial officer & Head of Global Controlling Business Unit Butyl
      • Dec 2005 - Apr 2010

Butyl has been one of the leading business units within LANXESS Group over more than 10 years following the spinoff from BAYER. It had global sales of around € 800 Mio, 1200 headcount, 2 worldwide plants in Belgium and Canada, a project for a 3rd plant in Singapore, which was finally built in the early 2010s’.I have been member of the BU Leadership team, in charge of controlling and finance, with also specific CFO role of the Swiss entity, management and financing central platform for the overall organization. Besides setting up and improving the controlling function for the business unit, in term of organization, processes (budget, monthly rolling forecast, KPIs, procedures,…) and tools (flexible forecasting tool in particular, SAP implementation), I have played a leading role in several key reorganization projects. In 2008 – 2010, most aspects of the global HQ transfer from Switzerland to Singapore were organized under my leadership with renowned consultants, covering new business models definition, link to IT / SAP systems adjustments, transfer pricing setup, tax negotiations on both sides, link with the Singapore local management, link with Singapore authorities, in particular EDB. One other key project was the business model change between the Swiss entity and the Butyl plants into a cost plus like model, in collaboration with related countries and global Tax function, as well as IT function for needed adjustments into SAP.
