Weed Control Researcher at Department of Weeds and Pesticides (PDPA)
-
Feb 2017 - Jul 2017
- Luã was invited by one of his professors to join the PDPA research group. - He conducted a study to evaluate the potential of four plant species as bioindicators of the residual presence of the herbicide pendimethalin. The plants were: cucumber (Cucuminus sativus), tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) and watermelon (Citrullus lanatus). The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in UFRRJ. - The study concluded that the watermelon and tomato plants showed more sensibility to the presence of pendimethalin residues in soil. In addition, tomato plants were considered more sensible and with the higher potential to indicate the presence of pendimethalin residue in soil, due to higher significant variation of the main parameters analysed, even in sub doses. The results of this study were published as Luã’s thesis. Show less
