My PhD is an investigation of how we can model the practice of meditation using computational neuroscience. I'm interested how meditation changes cognition and behaviour and in discovering modern articulations of these practices that might help more people benefit from them. Specifically I'm using the active inference framework to model meditation and its effects. My PhD is an investigation of how we can model the practice of meditation using computational neuroscience. At Neurons of Potential we provide scientifically informed meditation teaching for performance, mental well-being and personal flourishing. By leveraging insights and understanding from our academic work we have created a powerful and comprehensive meditation training program. We work with businesses, leadership teams and individuals looking to learn about the science and practice of these techniques. Visiting researcher at the UCL Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging, working with Prof Karl Friston's theoretical neurobiology group. I am investigating theoretical models of meditation and altered states of attention using the active inference framework (free energy principle). As part of the Technology in M&A team I assisted clients in understanding the risks and value drivers associated with various aspects of the technology environment of a business under consideration for an M&A transaction. Specifically this involved: • Leading information gathering meetings with technology heads (CIOs, IT Directors, etc.) and analysing large amounts of data in order to develop an expert view on the strengths and weaknesses of the target business’s technology environment. • Analysing the target business’s IT strategy and projects, enabling systems and digital technology, technology infrastructure and network architecture, data management and reporting capability, organisational structure and skill sets, cyber security posture and technology costs. • Keeping up to date with industry trends in order to provide advice to the client on the competitive (dis)advantage created by the target’s technology solutions. • Acting as a trusted advisor to the client interacting primarily with executive level stakeholders (CEOs, CIOs, CTOs) and technology leads (IT Directors, IT Operations Managers, etc.). • Creating compelling proposals tailored to the client’s technology environment and delivering pitches for new work. • Project managing engagements end-to-end which includes creating a project plan detailing activities and key milestones, tracking and reporting the status of each work stream, managing expectations of internal and external stakeholders as well as monitoring the project’s performance against set budget.
