• Set up and managed own private practice, specialising in paediatrics. Conditions treated encompassed cerebral palsy, Duchene’s muscular dystrophy, sensory integration disorders (e.g. dyspraxis), autism and various syndromes (Down’s, Sturge Weber, Prader Willi). A combination of the Bobath concept (Neurodevelopmental Therapy, NDT) and Sensory Integration (SI) techniques were used in treatment. The process followed with a client included an evaluation, a full report and feedback, followed by individual sessions with parental involvement during therapy. In addition, home programmes were compiled and occasional home visits performed when required.• Consulted on premature babies or babies suffering from cerebral palsy at a regional hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.• Assisted at Marietjie Centre, a school for children with special educational needs. This consisted of facilitating group therapy, guiding teachers in class with children requiring help and providing individual therapy for the children at school.
