I deliver teaching using the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) at client's homes and in schools on a consultancy basis. I work alongside the teaching team to analyse problem behaviour and develop behaviour reduction plans based on the principles of ABA. I carry out functional behaviour assessments, and regularly conduct and update standardised assessment for each client using the VBMAPP, ABLLS-R and AFLS. I contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), attend annual reviews and evaluate programmes, using baseline recordings and progression data, to monitor the client’s development and skill acquisition. I provide ongoing training, guidance and demonstrations to teachers and teaching assistants to maximise client progress and promote effective teaching practice. I also supervise two home-based ABA programmes with a nine-year-old male and a five-year-old male both of whom have a diagnosis of ASD. I train others including parents and induction training for new tutors, and oversee each client’s behaviour support plans and skills development programmes. I contribute at their school IEP meetings and write annual review reports including the graphing of data for the consulting BCBA.

My role included assessing clients, carrying out triage and comprehensive assessment as required and making onward referrals to specialist agencies. I utilised psychological interventions, motivational interviewing, solution focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioural techniques and harm minimisation strategies with clients, depending on individual need.
