  During the Covid crisis, instead of becoming furloughed, I volunteered to become part of the ongoing solution. Having been trained to carry out the swab test for Covid-19 (coronavirus), I was then further trained as an on-site trainer and supervisor. This allowed me to support in training more colleagues to join the team and carry out the swabbing process. I then became a full-time supervisor, which involved lane management, supporting colleagues, giving daily briefings and reporting back to head office with daily figures. Within this role I have gained invaluable experience on how to provide high quality training for; correct use of PPE, communication skills and the safe and effective oral and nasopharyngeal swab for the virus. I also gained experience in how to effectively communicate this to your subject while wearing a mask and gain valid consent and the importance of doing so while maintaining a safe environment for all involved, as well as keeping the standard of the testing site high at all times.
