Louis is currently a senior leader at Stowe Valley MAT with responsibility for the strategic leadership of safeguarding across the Trust’s 9 schools and 6 EYFS settings as the Multi Academy Trust Safeguarding Manager.Within this role, Louis also provides consultancy and support to other MATs and LAs including the delivery of NSPCC accredited training, quality assurance and safeguarding improvement services. Previously, Louis was Assistant Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead in a large secondary academy in a deprived area of Nottingham. Within this role, he was responsible for safeguarding, pastoral care, behaviour and alternative provision and also held the portfolio for professional standards; leading a number of complex disciplinary investigation.Accredited by the NSPCC to deliver Child Protection Training, he is experienced in delivering safeguarding CPD, speaking at conferences and roundtable events on Safeguarding and Leadership in Education.In 2018, Louis was accredited by the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board as an Advanced Designated Safeguarding Lead and sat on the Nottinghamshire Violent Crime Reduction Group.Louis supported the work of the DfE throughout the COVID19 Pandemic, advising on the impact and effectiveness of the Government safeguarding strategy.A calm and professional leader, especially in the face of adversity or challenge; he is passionate about safeguarding and maximising the effectiveness of senior leaders in education by taking a common-sense approach to effective and robust strategic leadership.

To lead safeguarding across the secondary campus.In addition to my responsibilities in respect of delivering training, ensuring the quality of safeguarding practice and developing safeguarding processes across the Academy; I am also responsible for overseeing the management of allegations against adults and volunteers within our Academy setting. This line of work involes conducting misconduct investigations, report writing and delivering evidence in disciplinary hearings.This role has helped to develop my understanding and delivery of outstanding safeguarding in education, during which time I have attended a range of professional development courses, such as undertaking Designated Safeguarding Lead training; Training in Safeguarding Case Supervision; and received training in Leading Safeguarding to develop my understanding of the OFSTED framework and maximise my effectiveness in working to align practice with OFSTED expectations.

To work as a pastoral leader within a year group setting, acting as the year group Safeguarding Officer and ensuring that pupil wellbeing is upheld, and academic achievement goals are met by working with all stakeholders to ensure maximum progress.This role became a stepping stone into safeguarding as it was a fantastic opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of Education, the role of the educator and the opportunity to transition the skills I learnt working for the Police, into the classroom.This role allowed me to build on my leadership skills, establishing myself as a prominent figure in the lower school amongst both my teaching colleagues and pupils.In my time as Deputy Head of Year, we saw a rise in Attendance and reduction in the rate of fixed term exclusions.
