Day Runner Trainee

I achieved the role of Day Runner Trainee on "Late Night Lycett" by applying through a scheme that Rumpus Media, Channel 4, and Joe Lycett himself created that was aimed at allowing people within the West Midlands, regardless of any experience they may or may not have to work on a live TV show that had been in production for some time. The initial advert only had 4 roles advertised. Over 1,000 applications were sent in and I was fortunate enough to be one of 40 who were interviewed in person by Emily Hudd, co-founder of Rumpus Media and executive producer on the show, and Lucy Rothery, Director of Operations at Rumpus. Even more fortunate was the fact I received a job offer as a Day Runner Trainee, which only required me to work on days that the show was in transmission. Over the course of the duration of production, I did serve as a Runner and had to regularly make runs out for additional materials required for the Production Office but I also was able to work closely with the production team, in particular Andrew Proffitt, our Production Manager, and had the privilege of working closely with Lucie Eaton, our Casting Assistant Producer and our weekly featured regulars on a couple of occasions. The role also allowed some on-screen opportunities, most noticeably in the final episode of Series 1 where I was a Bugle player that preceded Joe Lycett's entrance to the show. Cafe All Rounder

This job provided me with vital skills in working in a fast-paced environment, especially within an independent business. As a Cafe All-Rounder, my responsibilities are: taking orders, processing them through the till, making hot and cold drinks, serving food to customers, regularly checking up on customers to see if everything is okay with their food and/or drink(s), updating our social media pages and cleaning throughout the duration of opening and closing hours of the business. This job provided me with vital skills in working in a fast-paced environment, especially within an independent business. Took as an opportunity to re-enter the workplace during the pandemic. Responsibilities included: cleaning my assigned areas, being available to provide cover, good time management, working around staff, pupils, day centre residents while wearing full PPE. Created, produced, hosted, and ran the equipment for my own show. The show was weekly and covered everything from cultural events, politics, and even entertainment news. Guests were featured, both in-studio and over the phone. Increased the traffic and audience mix of the radio by setting up social media pages for viewers to engage in on-air discussions and advertising the show throughout the week. Came to an abrupt end due to the first lockdown. Created, produced, hosted, and ran the equipment for my own show.
