I wear many hats in this position, from assisting attorneys and legal secretaries with the drafting and service of pleadings and correspondence to keeping client files up-to-date. My duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of binders for depositions and CLE courses, transcription of attorney dictation, booking travel and accommodations for trials, seminars and depositions, calendaring trials and hearings on PracticeMaster, processing mail, scanning and saving relevant documents into DM, creating conflict checklists for new client matters, opening new client matters in the firm database, front desk coverage when necessary and attorney credit card reconciliation for submission to accounting.

My experience working as a legal assistant at Mello & Pickering, LLP, a Bay Area Family Law firm, has given me a keen interest in the practice of law. Through my time with this firm, I developed a wide range of administrative skills that fostered this interest and assisted in making the business a success. My duties included the coordination of meetings between attorneys, clients, experts and Judges, filing of pleadings with the court, arranging court appearances, drafting, proofreading and editing correspondence, personal service of documents when necessary and screening of potential clients. My responsibilities also extended to coordinating office parties, ordering supplies, troubleshooting and obtaining service of the office equipment, greeting clients, maintaining an extensive soft and hard copy filing system as well as personally assisting the attorneys as requested. I created an accounts receivable tracking system to streamline the collection of $100k + monthly balances and retainer funds, resulting in a 90-95% collection rate per month and designed a credit card authorization form for client use. I also implemented inventory request forms for needed office and kitchen supplies to ensure that the proper items were always on hand.
