Lorenzo and I worked together during our time at Yahoo! when he was leading Yahoo! Italy. Lorenzo embodied Yahoo! in Italy, with the customers and partners, as well as with the team. His enthusiasm, local market expertise and passion for delivering for the users, customers and team were central to the company’s success. I was particularly impressed with Lorenzo’s openness to innovation and his willingness to take risks, for example when we launched the Yahoo! Video Network and did the strategic deal with Vevo, two important initiatives in which Lorenzo played an important role. But it is Lorenzo’s diving into the world of augmented and virtual reality after Yahoo! that really stands out for me. His early recognition of just how pervasive these new technologies are becoming to how consumers want to engage with brands and products was bold and far-sighted. His engagement and focus in this area is a strong example of his strength as a business leader, embracing and adapting new technology and then helping other businesses to do the same.
