Hub.brussels, the Brussels business support Agency, is – among many other things – in charge of the internationalization of the Brussels economy and helps its businesses compete in global markets thanks to a worldwide network of economic and commercial attachés. Moreover, hub.brussels also attracts potential foreign investors to Brussels, providing them with assistance in establishing their business right in the heart of Europe. Concrete initiatives include multi-sectoral trade missions abroad, the participation to main international trade fairs, the welcoming of foreign trade delegations, etc. As International and Foreign Trade Advisor within the Agency's strategic support unit, I stand by the general management for the design, implementation and running of the international export and investment strategy of hub.brussels. Furthermore, I ensure the proper preparation of the decision-making bodies of hub.brussels (Board of Directors, Management Committee, Strategic Commission, etc.) and also take part on behalf of the Agency in meetings with the Brussels Secretary of State in charge of European and International Relations and Foreign Trade, Pascal Smet, as well as with other regional partners (brussels.international, visit.brussels). The Belgian Foreign Trade Agency (BFTA) provides information on foreign markets and helps Belgian companies to internationalise their activities by realizing in-depth sectoral economic studies, by releasing national and international statistics on foreign trade, and by providing legal advice on regulations regarding foreign trade.Within this framework, as Project Manager and Editor, I have written or significantly contributed to the writing of the following sectoral economic studies:• “Belgian Life Sciences” - 2019 (https://bit.ly/3xDTMtn).• "Belgian Transport and Logistics" - 2020 (https://bit.ly/3CJMat3)• "Belgian Sustainable Building Solutions and Smart Cities" - 2020 (https://bit.ly/3CKZmhh)• "Belgian Sustainable Food Systems" - 2021 (https://bit.ly/37BLOX5)Moreover, during the year 2020 marked by the health crisis, I also greatly contributed to the writing of the study entitled "Impact of the COVID-19 crisis on Belgian foreign trade" (https://bit.ly/3AJUmrL). The 170-page study is the result of statistical analysis with the objective to identify the 10 most affected sectors by the global health crisis. Belgium's performance is then compared with the results of its neighboring countries and of countries with a comparable export structure. A series of interviews with industry federations also throws light on the effects of the crisis on the international commerce of companies active in the ten most affected sectors. Finally, the factors that will contribute to a sustained socio-economic recovery are identified in the study. Finally, based on my education and knowledge in the field of translation, I have ensured the setting up of a translation software (Memsource) which I manage on a daily basis for internal purpose translations (economic studies, mission outlines, annual activity reports, etc.). Together with the three Regional authorities for export promotion – Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), hub.brussels and Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX) –, as well as with the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency's (BFTA) primary role is to organise joint economic missions abroad at the request of its partners and to contribute to the logistical organisation and the economic aspects of Belgian State Visits abroad. As junior coordinator I have significantly contributed to the successful organisation of the Belgian State Visit to the Republic of Portugal (2018) and the Belgian princely economic missions to the Kingdom of Morocco (2018), Mexico (2019) and the People's Republic of China (2019). In 2020 and 2021, the Belgian princely economic missions and State visits were unfortunately put on hold until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Show less

    • Translator and Interpreter
      • Aug 2016 - Apr 2018

As locally hired translator and interpreter of the Embassy of the Philippines to Belgium and Luxembourg/Mission of the Philippines to the EU, my work consisted in translating legal documents, current international affairs, and any written document (press articles, press releases, official statements, etc.) pertaining to the Belgium- and EU-Philippines relations. As a native French and Dutch speaker, these translation projects would be from and to English. Moreover, I also wrote and edited documents for external communication purposes. This included, amongst other things, every written communication with the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Belgian federal and local governmental instances. Whenever needed, I also assisted the financial and administrative departments of the Embassy in order to ensure a swift and efficient execution of internal operations. Whenever a high official or senior diplomat from the Philippines visited Belgium and the EU institutions, I provided him/her with relevant information on current affairs and matters. http://www.brusselspe.dfa.gov.ph/ Show less
