Market Regulation The market regulation practice is concerned with issues of European and national economic regulatory law. These issues arise in various relationships and with very diverse clients. The lawyers in this practice therefore advise and litigate in civil, administrative and criminal cases, as well as in European law cases (against the European Commission and in European courts). Clients range from small enterprises to (foreign) publicly listed companies and multinational corporations, from municipalities and provinces to hospitals and police administrative divisions and from industry associations in the transport sector to professional organizations in the health care sector. The practice consists mainly of three pillars: procurement law, competition law and state aid law. *** Marktordening De sectie marktordening houdt zich bezig met vraagstukken over Europees en nationaal economisch ordeningsrecht. Deze vraagstukken doen zich voor in allerlei rechtsverhoudingen en bij zeer uiteenlopende cliënten. De sectie adviseert en treedt op in civielrechtelijke, bestuursrechtelijke en strafrechtelijke zaken, alsmede in Europeesrechtelijke zaken (tegen de Europese Commissie en voor de Europese rechter). During the European Presidency of Belgium, my main responsibilities, consisted of reporting to the Permanent Representative and to the relevant Ministries of the Belgian governments on the legal and political developments taking place in the following international organisations: - Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons - International Criminal Court - Special Tribunal for Lebanon - Permanent Court of Arbitration In these organsiations, I attended both institutional and informal meetings taking place between the States Parties. In the capacity of trainee during the European presidency of the European Union, I prepared, attended and reported on multiple WEOG consultation meetings taking place in the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. I similarly attended one regular and one extra-ordinary Conference of the States Parties to the OPCW. In this respect I co-drafted, among other activities, the speech that Belgium delivered on behalf of the European Union. Show less
