  Practical aspects of planting, cultivation and experimental surveys on soilless crops of horticultural species grown in greenhouses and shade house for research purposes. I assisted the company tutor and the laboratory technicians during all the horticultural plant cultivation activities for experimental purposes (preparation of plants for soilless cultivation, construction of irrigation systems, transplanting, fertilizing, phytosanitary defence) and in the periodic experimental surveys carried out in the greenhouse or in the laboratory (growth analysis). I acquired skills related to the construction and management of soilless systems of horticultural crops, and how to set up an experiment to test the effectiveness of a given treatment. Show less

  I was able to observe the entire horticultural production chain, starting from sowing to packaging the product and then to its sale. Deepening aspects concerning organic production, the processing of mycorrhized plants as well as the various re-potting of vegetable and aromatic plants, including their cuttings.   Participated in the production chain of vegetable/fruit crops (harvesting, choice of product suitable for sale, fruit grading, packaging, labelling, conservation and technical aspects of the supply chains), mainly peaches and courgettes and a part concerning plums and apricots . I performed manual tasks of assistance and maintenance of the machines in the closed rooms of the company and of the cooperative to which the company belongs (machines for packaging courgette flowers, packaging by netting machine for punnets of 1 kg of fruit, preparation of adhesive labels to be applied on the product packaging with the appropriate machine, fulfillment of orders for large-scale distribution). The company is part of an agricultural cooperative (ORTO & CO. FRUTTA) in this way I was able to observe another key phase of the supply chain which concerns the passage of the product from the companies to the consumers. By participating in the production chain, I have acquired notions regarding soil preparation, sowing and choice of varieties - cultivars, propagation, fertilization, plant care, pest control, irrigation systems, rotations, harvesting and use of the product. At the headquarters of the cooperative I was also able to observe what concerns the administrative aspects (invoicing, product control, regulations, HACCP, relations with large-scale distribution, etc.), as well as the importance of the label, through which the consumer or large retailers can trace (thanks to the manufacturer code, lot, barcode, etc.) the entire supply chain up to the producer in the event of finding any anomalies in the product, in order to send back damaged or poor quality products . I participated in the production processes of bread, pasta and biscuits (raw material, elaboration, transformation, conservation or relative packaging). I took part in the production, packing, processing and transportation of the flour to the mill. I performed manual tasks of assistance and maintenance of the machines in the open and closed premises of the company. I took part in the organization of the event carried out by the Rural Seeds Network which involved the company. I have integrated and deepened the knowledge and skills acquired during the school career with those that will be found through direct experience in the world of work; acquired the keys to understanding an organizational context in the workplace with the related flows and relationships with the outside world; improved interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
