Environmental Engineer at Centre for Urban Water Resources, CURE is the water thematic collective of DHAN Foundation, with sectorial focus on water management in urban and semi-urban environments. • Revived 10+ irrigation water bodies and drinking water ponds through joint collaboration with government agencies, communities and private enterprises. • Developed a water quality testing laboratory in Madurai with a community-centric approach. Local farmers can access and use the laboratory to test the quality of accessible water sources. • Created a technical magazine called ‘Water Watch’ which is addressed directly to communities. The magazine discusses water issues and the water quality situation in the Madurai city in order to provide relevant policymakers and other stakeholders with information for better decision-making. • Organised more than 5+ round table workshops as a facilitator for the City Resources Center by assembling all stakeholders on topics related to urbanisation, climate change, environmental pollution and anthropogenic overexploitation of natural resources. • Provided professional advisory services on decentralization of wastewater treatment including the option of roof water harvesting at both household and institutional level. • Made action research on implementing effective faecal sludge (human excreta) management with desulgers, rag pickers and sanitary workers. • A technical team for a study on “Assessment of Livelihood-Ecosystem Interdependencies for Integrated Management of Point Calimere-Ramsar Site” supported by GIZ India.
