Logan has been a FreeBSD and technology enthusiast for as long as I have known him. His work and contributions, not only in IPv6, show his dedication for his passion and how knowledgeable he is.

I'm currently focusing on research in DNS(SEC), RPKI and Internet Measurements for both IPv6 and IPv4.

    • Junior Sysadmin
      • Jun 2012 - Dec 2014

      - Common duties (checking logs, maintaining servers, fixing printers, etc..)- IPv6, DNS(SEC), RPKI.- Wrote quite a few scripts for automation & monitoring in perl, python, bash & tcl.- Contributed code to Open Source projects (CentOS ipv6 security & FreeBSD (ports and kernel)) and PHP security backports)- Vmware and KVM Virtualization.- rsync-based scripts for deployments.- Git/SVN advice & tips to dev-team.- Advised governments on DNSSEC.The "junior sysadmin" title is because I lacked 6 years of working experience compared to my collegues. My way of working is slightly different from other sysadmins: I'm not afraid to dig deep inside kernel code to fix problems. To reduce maintainance efforts, I go through the process to have our internal patches merge in upstream Open Source projects that we rely upon.

[During my spare time]Making the Internet more secure by taking if further :)Together with a group of Mauritians, we worked together on interesting problems. You can find our code in Linux, BSD, mariadb, net-snmp, and other infrastructure projects. We also organize hackathons where both young and seasoned developers work together on improving open source code. The first hackathon was about implementing an IETF standard within Linux distributions. Our group has produced some of the finest IT engineers in Mauritius occupying top positions within many IT firms, and even appointed to the position of Advisor to the Ministry of TCI ! You can find bits of our work in applications requiring TLS 1.3 (wget), and also DNS security features such as EDNS(0) Padding. Also, we were training the first group of high school students -- From College Du St Esprit -- for the prestigious Google Code-in competition. They reached the finals and it was a very strong start for Mauritius. On top of this, I have acted as technical reviewer for some great books:SSH Mastery A lot of my spare time is spent mentoring young Linux/FOSS folks in Mauritius. Feel free to contact me, if you want any advice.

For a long time, we grew our membership carefully, and mentored new Linux sysadmins & PHP developers in Mauritius. I presented anything ranging from Linux-based routers with cantenna to latest advances in OpenSSH. However, times changed, and I was asked to go play elsewhere. I did so and assembled a great team of Linux and Open Source developers: cyberstorm.mu. Today, cyberstorm.mu has become the active Linux & Open Source developer group in Mauritius, with patches in mariadb, linux, net-snmpd, tarsnap, ntpd, and others. [My involvement in LUGM is zero]
