I was part of a 10-member delegation selected to represent my university at the 68th annual session of the prestigious Harvard National Model United Nations conference in Boston,USA.I represented the Syrian Arab Republic in the Futuristic General Assembly of 2031. The committee dealt with the issue of security in a digital age with a strong focus on the security implications arising from the widespread use of cryptocurrencies. The committee also tackled questions around the effective international regulation of cryptocurrencies and their social, economic and even environmental impact. It also was an opportunity to tackle the most pertinent international issues faced by the world at large via engaging with delegates from all over the world. The World's Scholar Cup (WSC) is an international team academic program with more than 15,000 students participating from over 65 countries every year. Each Regional and Global Round consists of four main events: the Scholar's Challenge, Collaborative Writing, The Team Debate, and the Scholar's Bowl. The World Scholar's Cup curriculum has six subject areas and an annual theme. WSC provides students with an avenue to develop their debating and writing abilities and also to enhance their teamwork and communication skills. I took part in the Singapore regional rounds in 2019 with over 200 Senior Division scholars and emerged 1st for the scholar's challenge in the subject area of History. My team qualified for the Beijing Global Rounds in 2019, where there were 1500 scholars from 39 countries. My team emerged 20th overall. I came within the top 3% and 4% for writing and debating, respectively. Show less
