      Offshore fisheries biologist and plankton survey on board RV Celtic Explorer as part of Western European Shelf Pelagic Acoustic Survey (WESPAS). My participation on this survey was funded by the SMART Marine Institute Research Vessel Bursary. The WESPAS survey program reports on the annual abundance of summer feeding aggregations of herring to the west of Scotland and to the north and west of Ireland over a 42-day period. Age stratified relative stock abundance estimates of boarfish, herring and horse mackerel using acoustic data and biological data from trawl sampling. Stock estimates of boarfish and horse mackerel are then submitted to the ICES.
