Lizzy Millar acted as panel secretary and support to a number of professional tribunal hearings in which I participated. Pre-hearings she always made contact to ensure that the papers were in satisfactory order and to review the case-issues to facilitate an effective and smoothly run tribunal. Any matters of admissibility of evidence, vulnerability of witnesses or other case-concerns were flagged to ensure that we could bring them to the attention of the parties and/or the tribunal. Her management of the online forum for hearings was extremely helpful and again ensured tribunals ran smoothly and efficiently. Lizzy provided accurate, balanced and detailed case-summaries with which to work which I greatly appreciated. Her use of shorthand (a rare skill these days) ensured that an accurate and easily obtained record of evidence was made such that recordings did not have to be considered or transcripts printed. Instead an accurate record would be immediately available. Again, something of a rarity these days. In short I found Lizzy to be an enthusiastic, reliable and extremely helpful person to have in preparing for, running and facilitating tribunal hearings. She has frequently spoken with enthusiasm regarding using her skills in the wider legal and other professional fields in a supporting and facilitative role. In my view she is very well suited to that role and, should an assistant/PA/facilitator case-secretary or similar be required in a legal, business or professional role then I would recommend Lizzy for consideration.
Margaret BRIGHTMAN
LIzzy worked with Torridon Primary as clerk to the Governing Board for a year but then (sadly for us) got the much-deserved "better job with more pay". She was unfazed by a year of remote meetings despite the difficulties that posed in getting to know people. She modernised our systems for accessing our papers, current and historic and the administration of our meetings was impeccable. She was approachable and responsive, combining efficiency and personality. Thanks Lizzy!

Panel Secretary & Complaints Administrator

Feb 2021 - Apr 2022
During tenure I:- dramatically sped up the time typically taken by adjudication panels to hand down written decisions at online hearings. I did this by working more collaboratively with the legal advisor to co-author the panel’s decision by screen sharing and typing onto a pre-part-filled-in template as dictated to.- Advised therapists on how to avoid becoming subject to complaints by carrying out an annual root cause analysis on complaints and issuing approved and relevant guidance on the UKCP website.- Appointed four new members from diverse backgrounds onto the UKCP Professional Conduct Committee, to ensure group decisions remained fair, balanced, and informed. Helping WFD put in place systems to support democracy and promote transparency and accountability in public life in overseas territories to support FCO's foreign policy. I did this by organising, minuting and recording and chasing up actions from online meetings (including leads who work in 33 different countries) and a Board of trustees made up of members of all the political parties in the House of Commons, as they build multi-party democracies and hold leaders of WFD to account. At the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD): - I ensured that the WFD could continue to host programmes to support democracy by pivoting them to online delivery in countries operating under draconian lock-down rules in 2020 by organising a series of extraordinary meetings of the board - a group of elected MPs appointed by the Foreign Secretary to monitor WFD’s programmes. - I minimised reputational risk by procuring a vetting supplier to carry out due diligence checks on non-standard overseas donors after UK Government reduced the foreign aid budget. - I informed the WFD’s submission of evidence to the government’s integrated review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy: Global Britain in a Competitive Age published on 16 March 2021 by acting as the note taker at an interview with a former prime minister. Remember the tale of Dick Whittington who became the Mayor of London after selling puss-in-boots for bags of gold coins? Well, Good Ol' Dick then went on to marry the daughter of a Master Mercer in the City of London and become a Mercer himself. The Mercers continues to this day and has since become the number one and oldest philanthropic livery company in the City, surviving nearly 700 years. My job is to dust down some of the old hand-written registers in the archives and type them up and so support the process of cataloging and digitising the historical collection of title deeds, drawings, royal charters, maps and diaries, some of which pre-date the Great Fire of London in 1666.
