  During my internship I have been working with the head of the science department at Carpinteria High School. Throughout the internship I have been learning organization skills and science safety. The three major projects we have had were; obtaining safety data sheets, checking all of the microscopes to ensure they are in order, and organizing and taking inventory of all items in the science labs. We obtained safety data sheets for over 200 chemicals that are stored on campus which took seven weeks to complete. These safety data sheets are very important to have on hand in order to know the proper steps to treat a person who has had an accident with any of the chemicals. I have become very familiar with microscopes and getting them to work properly. With the microscope project I was able to fix certain microscopes that were not functioning properly. Lastly the organization and inventory project has been an immense assistance locating items quickly which has allowed the labs to run more smoothly. Show less
