The Gihon Women's Empowerment Center is a non-governmental organization located in Kitengela, Kenya. The aim of the organization is to empower women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence (GBV), rape, extreme poverty, female genital mutilation (FGM), and some who are suffering from the HIV/AIDS virus. The center offers mentoring, skills training, education, and support while enrolled in the program. The center is dedicated to making sure the women leave the program equipped with the confidence and skills necessary to transform the overall quality of their lives. Created empowering workshops providing counseling to women in the community living with HIV/AIDS. Worked within the local community teaching classes on nutrition, HIV/AIDS, women’s empowerment, sexual education, family planning, as well as prenatal and postnatal care.
