Mícheál O Doibhilín

The reality is that Liz does not need a recommendation or endorsement - she is her own best advertisement. Liz is a first-class researcher and informer. Her tours of Kilmainham Gaol are second to none, and she sets the bar high in this as in everything she does. Liz has produced three books to date, and they are, rightly, critically acclaimed not just for their research, but for their fairness, honesty and even-handedness, traits not many published Irish historians show as our recent history is still a bitter and one-sided affair for many. Not for Liz, though. She tells it as she has discovered through her research that it was, and let the truth set us all free. And speaking of free - Liz is as free with her time, support and help as she is with her information - all are to be shared, she believes, and she acts upon that. Liz's work ethic is beyond compare, and she puts her all into everything she does. When a tour guide is giving 3 or 4 tours a day over many years, one would expect that the tour would become automatic, rote, boring - not for Liz. For her every tour given, every talk she gives outside of work, is given as if it was the first time - fresh, informative and involving. Liz's guiding motto is that for those listening, if not for herself, it IS the first time, and they deserve the best. Driven by high standards that others can only envy, Liz is the ultimate work colleague and friend.
