I teach 7th grade Language Arts, where the focus is writing, grammar, and vocabulary. My instruction consists of utilizing the Collections textbook's lessons and assessments, while also adhering to the Common Core standards. 7th and 8th Grade Language Arts Teacher

 Effectively instructed students in ELA in accordance to Common Core State Standards  Created daily lesson plans in the GANaG style; created unit plans using the UbD framework.  Utilized many student-centered learning techniques, such as Thematic Literature Circles, modeling, and reading and writing workshops.  Experienced in technology integration and fasciliating its use in the classroom, including the use of Chromebooks and Google Classroom  Instructed a Media and Technology class, where I assisted editing the JH Newspaper and guiding students in writing in a journalistic style  Created and advised the JH Writing Club, where I guided students in writing practice, and supported them in entering their work to competitions, festivals, and galleries.  Managed RTI reports and was a Reading Interventionist in Title I and used in classroom to differentiate and lead small-group instruction.  Analyzed several components of data, such as MAPs test scores; experienced in Standard-Based Grading and synthesizing Proficiency scales for the standards, which provided precise and timely feedback to students.  Attended and pursued conferences and workshops for Professional Development, and am knowledgeable in Educator Effectiveness. For my student teaching experience in an 8th grade Language Arts classroom, I: -established a strong rapport with students and colleagues; -created lesson plans for a variety of books, poems, short stories, grammar, and vocabulary; -developed a unit plan for "To Kill a Mockingbird" which included applying differentiation and creating assessments; managed all classes and set up expectations and seating charts; -attended faculty, PLC, and guidance meetings; -collaborated with a cooperating teacher and colleagues to learn methods of instruction, planning, and management -Participated in the school community by chaperoning dances and student activity night; and substituted for cooperating teacher.
