As a postdoctoral fellow in Russell Vance’s lab I have been working with the Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) pathway in diverse pathogen infections, from bacteria to viruses. By generating knock-in mice with STING mutations I identified ancient conserved machineries of this pathway with important role as defense mechanisms on HSV-1 infections.
