In my (now) many years in industry and academia, with many experiences of public engagement, I have rarely come across anyone who has the passion and ability to impact their community like Lisa Austin. Her many years of work in the Innovation Erie initiative is one case in point. It seems to me that she views everything she does through the lens of making things better for her fellow citizens. Lisa is indeed a rare asset for our community.

Responsibilities Include:-All Gallery Operations-Management of Permanent Collection-Full Supervision & Mentorship of student staff-Oversight of installations, events, programming & community outreachAs Director I:-Launched on 6-9 shows a year-Organized regular educational events for the three campuses of PennWest-Created a visiting artists & speaker endowment-Increased gallery funding each year-Launched a program to inventory and catalogue the university's permanent collection including works by: Joseph Albers, Paul Cezanne, Kathe Kollwitz, Pablo Picasso & Andy Warhol Show less

Founder of CIVITAS.design, Back to Erie, Inc., a social sculpture collaborative that has been undertaking aesthetic and functional interventions in public space since 2004. For two decades, Civitas has tirelessly worked to use art and advocacy to protect vital public spaces, particularly those serving redlined communities. This work has included legal intervention, political engagement, fundraising, and regular editorials in the local media.
