The number of orphans in this world is staggering. So many children are growing up on the streets or in orphanages, lacking the essentials that they need to grow and develop well. It is our desire that children living in institutions not languish but be provided what they need for optimum growth and development. This includes adequate facilities, good nutrition, clothing and medical care. But it goes beyond the basics. Our aim is to also see that children have stimulating environments and opportunities for learning in order to truly thrive. An orphanage, no matter how good, is no substitute for a family. Every child needs to have a family to nurture and guide them during their growing-up years. By all rights, it should be the child's birth family that provides this backdrop for love, growth and development. However, death of a parent or poverty often cripples a family's ability to care for their children. We feel compelled to provide supportive and interventive measures to help families stay intact. Sadly, this is not always possible and then we must work to make an alternative plan for a child's future through adoption. Above all, our desire is to give the children whom we serve hope through hearing about and coming to know the personal, loving God who cares for them. The Sacred Portion Children's Outreach is an invitation and opportunity for others to become involved and to give their "sacred portion" out of love and obedience. They may choose to do so in a variety of ways by sponsoring a child, donating time, talent or money to a specific project or need, or by simply praying for the children. For some to whom God has given a heart for adoption, it may be by embracing a child into their own family. Whatever the level or means of giving, all that is given for children without families is considered sacred and holds a place of honor before the Lord. Show less
