-Work independently within the Joint Expeditionary Forensic Facilities located throughout Iraq and Afghanistan preparing DNA samples and conducting serological analysis with Phenolphthalein and Seratec confirmatory tests, and follow Lab protocol. Types of evidence primarily tested for ‘touch’ DNA. Interpret results, generate reports and testify when necessary. -Familiarity with Chelex, organic extraction, and the Qiagen EZ1 Robot. Utilized 7500 for Quantifiler and Plexor HY and 3130xl for Identifiler Plus and Y-filer for genetic analysis. -Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control requirements, make reagents and perform microscopic analysis. -Fill in as Evidence Custodian, Operations Lead and Interim Laboratory Manager as needed. -Use of DNA databases and CIDNE. -Responsible for all QA/QC procedures for DNA section. -Proficiency tested in DNA serology procedures. -Responsible for safety and well-being of all laboratory personnel. -Report discrepancies and incidents back to BAE Systems, in King George, VA. -Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of entire laboratory, to include: Latent Prints, Photography, DNA, Evidence, Case File Manager and Firearms. Work with Operations Lead on a day-to-day basis. Attend Biometric meetings in-theater, with other Forensic Labs, to ensure Standard Operation Procedures are followed across the board, and guarantee adequate reporting of Intelligence to appropriate channels. -Worked with other Labs, i.e. CEXC, DTK, and USACIL, to help warrant a common goal for all.
