Developed, managed and implemented a wide range of Secretarial initiatives including:• Managed and oversaw HUD’s Office of International Affairs, with a $20M operating portfolio and staff of eight;• Implemented bi-lateral agreements on housing and community development with China, South Africa and Mexico; managed HUD’s portion of U.S. disaster recovery efforts in Central America and Caribbean;• Oversaw and led Secretarial mission to Israel and the Palestinian Authority – including all high-level government relations;• Designed and produced HUD’s inaugural “National Housing Day” – mobilizing over 10,000 volunteers in over 150 cities to repair 2,000 dilapidated homes for families in need;• Launched and managed HUD’s “Good Neighbor Initiatives”, with a national inventory of over 33,000 properties valued at over $2B, including the “Teacher Next Door initiative”, offering fifty-percent discount on HUD homes to certified teachers; and• Co-produced award-winning radio and television public service announcement campaign featuring dozens of celebrities.
