I work at the front desk at Peterborough Cathedral. I welcome visitors, which means I set the tone for the visitor’s experience with the building in providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I encourage visitors to leave donations while not making them feel compelled to do so. I inform them about upcoming events. I have had experience selling tours and tickets for the Cathedral’s dinosaur exhibition that took place this summer and saw upwards to 1000s of visitors everyday. During the dinosaur event, I have also managed footfall in directing people to the exhibition while still dealing with our regular visitors. I am always available to visitors who have questions about the history of the building. I have even given impromptu tours to people wishing to see specific things. I also make the slides that visitors will see on the screen at the front desk.

I was a welcomer at the Cathedral Visitor's centre. I greet people and provide information about the Cathedral’s history and events that are occurring in the Cathedral. I also keep a tally of the number of people who have visited on that given day. I was also tasked with opening the Visitor's and Learning Centre and turning on all the lights and displays when it first opened in the morning.
