We worked with two small schools sharing the same campus.GIRLSTART is an afterschool literacy program in the Fruitvale District of East Oakland that helps K-3rd grade girls develop stronger reading and writing skills, using Girls Inc.'s award-winning research-based curricula. Research shows that children who do not read at grade level by 3rd grade struggle to catch up in school and are at a significantly greater risk of dropping out before graduation. Show less
