China is an amazing country full of wonder and beauty! I believe it the safest countries I have ever had the privilege in serving. Opening a brand new branch of English Modern School in Al Khor. Beginning with KG1 up to Year 8; that's preschool up to Grade 7 US terminology. From greeting our students every morning from 7:00 AM to greeting surprise visitors, from meeting with the Senior Leadership Team every Monday afternoon to meeting with staff Tuesday afternoons during 'Early Release,' from listening to parents' concerns to listening to children's worries, from watching a fabulous assembly to watching an incredible musical, from advocating for a new car park to be built to advocating for a new sand pit to be created, from writing a 'Fee increase' application to the Supreme Education Council to writing an application for QNSA candidacy, from planning the budget for next year to analyzing the comparative budget for this year, from reviewing CVs to hiring superstar teachers, from doing inventory of all our classroom furniture to ordering new classroom furniture for the new school year....

Loved working with eight and nine year olds in small classes between 12 to 20 students over five years as a full-time homeroom teacher covering: math, science, English, social studies, and moral education. Immensely enjoyed being part of a school who truly puts students' learning at the center of it all whether in class, or a ski trip, or an After-School's activity. ISK cares about students learning high level academics in a fun, natural and systematic fashion where teams work together across subjects to perform cross-curricular projects, which enhance learning to another level.
