In addition to continuing my work as lifeguard, this summer I took on the additional role of occasionally acting as cover deck supervisor. This involved the additional responsibilities of administering pool water tests, managing pool water levels, organisation of pool layout and closing times, direction of fellow lifeguards, organisation of lifeguard break times, and general maintenance and upkeep of the pool deck. As a lifeguard, I was responsible for the safety of pool-goers and, as such, I developed skills in coping well in a high-responsibility environment, working as part of a team, and communicating effectively with others.
