  Reach for the Stars, LLC, is a private practice specializing in pediatric speech-language-feeding therapy. Under the ownership and direction of Lisa Jiannetto-Surrusco, MA, CCC-SLP, our clinical team is compromised of highly qualified NYS/NJS licensed and ASHA certified speech-language pathologists with diverse training and clinical backgrounds in a variety of sub-specialty areas. This includes childhood articulation and language disorders, motor-speech disorders, voice and resonance disorders, fluency disorders and complex feeding disorders. We work collaboratively with many of the best clinics and practices within the NYC Metropolitan area, with repeat referrals from some of the finest institutions for post-surgical treatment for cleft palate repair, velo- pharyngeal insufficiency, and laryngeal pathology. We are also among the few practices to treat adult voice and resonance disorders (at our Staten Island office only). Our therapists also possess training in some of the most sought after therapeutic approaches. This includes PROMPT to treat apraxia of speech, Orton-Gillingham and Wilson for literacy disorders, and SOS Feeding Approach to treat feeding disorders. In 2011, we launched the Find the Fun in Feeding Program to treat complex feeding disorder through the use of a systematic 12-week program (under the former practice name Speech and Language Therapy Associates of Staten Island. We offer our very own clinician-designed session activities customized to meet the individual needs of children needing a multi-sensory approach to treatment.   In September of 2012, Speech and Language Therapy Associates of SI was proud to announce the merger of its NYC Department of Education Division with The Perfect Playground. The Perfect Playground is presently a primary contract provider for NYC Department of Education providing speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. This includes initial evaluations and school-based therapy for school-age children citywide under the provision of an IEP or IESP. The Perfect Playground prides itself on being the leader in providing superior quality therapeutic services to NYC Department of Education students for nearly 20 years. Within the inception of the last contract, the company has grown to expand more services, including evaluation services, home care therapy and academic tutoring services. Present responsibilities include supervision of all SLPs and CFs on staff to ensure clinical quality; Assisting with the recent implementation of new procedures regarding Medicaid billing guidelines in NYC schools (icd-10 coding rules, determining if a service is “medically necessary”, etc.); development and maintenance of a CF Program consistent with ASHA and NYS guidelines; management of all CF Supervisors; regular consultation with NYS and ASHA in order to update staff on current guidelines related to scope of practice, evidence-based therapy, ethics, and maintenance of credentials; coordination of all evaluation services including assisting with the procurement of NYCDOE district awarded assessment contracts; deployment of evaluators and management of all evaluation cases; attending regular meetings with NYCDOE supervisors/administrators to promote increased collaboration, and to obtain current guidelines related to the delivery of speech services in NYC schools.
