Kate McGowan
Lisa is an absolutely exceptional team leader. She quickly rose to the position of writer manager at Sourceress and was able to provide direction during a time when the list of fires to be put out seemed endless. Her advocacy for the writing team helped bring our opinions to the forefront and she worked relentlessly to make sure that everyone was heard and understood. Creating a cohesive work environment amongst an internationally distributed team is inherently tricky, but she did so with seemingly no effort due to her incredible wealth of technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and what can only be explained as a little bit of pure magic! Lisa has done so much for me and the other writers at Sourceress, and she has poured her heart and soul into guiding us all to our own personal successes. I don’t know how I could have possibly survived, let alone gotten to where I am today, without her influence. If you’re someone with an opportunity to get her on your team,

Lisa came from our contractor team, rose up as a leader within that team, and then joined full-time to lead our writing team from HQ. She's a fantastic writer, puts processes and documentation in place in her sleep, and is the most reliable project manager I've ever worked with -- she drops zero balls ever. She's an excellent manager with great instincts about people and systems, works nonstop, and gets stuff done fast.

Program Manager 2
-
Nov 2001 - Sep 2006
Managed programs as well as multiple concurrent project initiatives Performed vendor management, including software, hardware, staff augmentation, and outsourcing Supervised employees and contractor development, business analyst, quality assurance, architect, and project management resources Maintained business partner relationships and collaborated with the business partners to facilitate deliverables (i.e., requirements, design, process and workflow mapping, unit, system, and user acceptance testing, etc.) Oversaw daily operations, SLA commitment, and enhancement activities for multiple applications Key Accomplishments I managed a project to replace delivered customer paper reports with web-accessible PDF documents and optional customer printing. This decreased company printed lines by 99.9%, reduced costs by $1.5 million per year and allowed monitoring of report usage and better-served customer needs. Managed creation, maintenance, and application architecture for back office program utilizing an EAI hub-and-spoke framework to integrate claims, policy, billing, and customer data and make that integrated data available to other systems, including a data warehouse. This resulted in real-time operational data and the availability of analytical data for strategic decision-making. Managed effort to create data mart and interface to the claims management system, which allowed usage of analytical data for claims management decision making. Decreased usage and increased performance of the claims management system and allowed timely analysis and correction of claims processing. I received a $2,000 performance bonus upon completion of this project. I defined enterprise-wide processes for requirements gathering and system design in collaboration with fellow program managers and PMO staff. Show less
