Magazine, formerly Humanities Hallows, is based at Manchester Metropolitan University and is a hub for digital and print content - a forum for creative and aspiring writers to showcase their work. This role involved:- - Writing and reporting for official MMU events in and around Manchester; - Interviewing attendees of events including Emma Jane Unsworth and the Editor of the Big Issue in the North, Kevin Gopal - Editing articles submitted by student journalists, and providing constructive feedback; - Working to briefs and meeting strict 24 hour turnaround deadlines; - Attending editorial training sessions inlcuding WordPress training and an SEO session run by an industry leader; - photography; - Writing for specific audiences; - Working as part of a wider editorial team; - Using social media to promote the blog (this was so successful it led to Russell Brand retweeting one of our articles and redirecting thousands of hits to the site!)

Manchester Central Foodbank is the UK's first student-led foodbank, helping hundreds of people in inner city Manchester struggling to exist on the poverty line.
