I worked closely with Lisa as a student leader of the Office of Sustainability for two years, both in-person and through the pandemic. She is not only incredibly organized but an efficient communicator, maintaining and creating partnerships with organizations across campus. She has been instrumental in connecting sustainability initiatives across universities through the North East Colleges Sustainability Consortium and in pushing Princeton's Sustainability forward.

Lisa Nicolaison was my favorite boss/manager. From the first day as an EcoRep to my time as an alum, Lisa has remained committed to seeing the success of the Office of Sustainability and everyone who works there. Her role requires a willingness to fail to find the best solutions, which is a trait that would humble most people to the point of giving up. However, Lisa always persevered and remained positive. Lisa believes in the giving students the full reign of large scale projects. and in doing so, allowed myself and my fellow EcoReps the ability and space to grow significantly as project managers as well as people. She cultivated and maintained an environment conducive to innovation, open-mindedness, and self-reflection. My role at the Office of Sustainability was the first non-service position I held and through Lisa's incredible management, I learned what to expect of a manager and how to best tap into my potential.

In my role as Engagement and Communications Manager, I managed the campus engagement programs and communications for the Office of Sustainability at Princeton University. I developed and managed student and staff sustainability engagement programs and initiatives, overseeing all student engagement programming and managing the Office’s 35+ paid student employees (EcoReps, Mend and Garden Project). I coordinated programming with other campus student sustainability groups and partnered with other campus departments to integrate sustainability information and activities into the student experience. I also oversaw the Sustainability Staff Ambassador Program and coordinated other staff engagement opportunities including the Green Office and Green Events programs. My role supported the development and implementation of a behavioral-science driven communications strategy to promote sustainability at Princeton and beyond. I developed, executed, and analyzed communications plans for the Office of Sustainability and maintained the integrity of the office’s visual identity. Serving as a creative strategist for the office, I sought to leverage emerging trends, research, and techniques to connect to key audiences and stakeholders. This included developing and managing content for communication channels that consist of the website, newsletter, social media, the Frist GreenSpace; seasonal Green Tours; marketing, signage and event promotions; and other materials for various audiences. I also partnered with departments from across the University to build and deepen engagement programs and efforts, as well as with communications communities on campus and across higher education to increase sustainability awareness among various audiences. I monitored and assessed the impact of these engagement and communications efforts by using both qualitative and quantitative methods, and used this information to inform and adapt programs and initiatives.
