I strongly recommend Ms Schantl's profile for any future positions within the publishing and writing industries. I've had the pleasure to directly work under her at Tint Journal, and from what I've seen and gathered about her, I can vouch that she is an excellent leader/team-member, a fastidious critic, and an advocate of translingual empowerment. It reflects in the online presence of The Tint Journal that she founded in 2018, and has so dedicatedly worked on to make it a popular literary home for ESL writers, garnering the international popularity it enjoys today. Indeed, Ms Schantl remains a true inspiration for many of us. Her writing skills are also impeccable, and she displays a fascinating flair of langauge in her creativity and critiques. I wish her all the best for her future endeavours. I'm sure she'd go a long way. Cheers!

For this research project, I am looking into literary compositions by authors who cross linguistic borders (and in many cases also national ones) and use (one of) their second language(s) as verbal medium for their literary texts. Translingual by definition, these texts frequently also address language use in literature through manifest multilingual strategies such as code-switching and language mixing, or latent strategies such as language references. English, the world’s most widely spoken second language, serves as a departure to investigate such multilingual strategies from a literary studies perspective, involving linguistics and sociolinguistics when required. The aim of the project is to analyze the effects of the use of second languages in literature on the levels of discourse and story, and to situate them in the field of multilingual literary research.Supervisor and mentor: Johanna Domokos (University of Bielefeld) Show less

    • Founder and Editor-in-Chief
      • Aug 2018 - Present

I am the founder of Tint Journal, the literary magazine for ESL (English as a Second Language) writing. After developing the idea, finding two passionate volunteers to realize it and finally launching the online journal in February 2019, I keep the role as editor-in-chief. In this position, I run the journal, maintain the website and our crowdfunding platforms, coordinate our workflow, edit submissions, do the budgeting and fundraising, and organize events. I hope that Tint Journal (www.tintjournal.com) will flourish and show how writers from all over the world can contribute to literature in English. Show less
